How Daybreak handles your data
Last updated October 8, 2026
What we collect
- Your Google sign-in: your name, email address and Google account ID, and the day you last used Daybreak. Signing in doesn’t give Daybreak access to your Gmail, Calendar or contacts.
- Your workspace: what you add or create in Daybreak. That includes your profile, résumés and their text, career history, skills, job preferences, saved roles, pipeline, drafts, answers and notes.
- Error reports: when something breaks, the error message and the page it happened on, with addresses, links and numbers removed. Autofill’s reports can also name the employer’s site and the question involved. They contain nothing from your workspace.
- Usage counts: how many requests each account makes, to enforce fair-use limits. These are stored with a scrambled account ID.
How it’s stored
Your workspace is encrypted before it’s saved to our database. Daybreak is hosted by service providers in the United States. While you’re signed in, your browser keeps a copy so Daybreak works offline. Signing out removes that copy.
Who else sees it
- Our AI providers, only when you use an AI feature (a tailored résumé, a cover letter, drafted answers, Autofill or 1-click apply). Daybreak sends what that task needs, such as your career history, skills, education, preferences, saved answers and the job description, and they process it on our behalf. Your answers to identity questions (gender, race, disability, veteran status and the like) are never sent.
- Our hosting providers store and serve the service for us.
- Employers’ public job boards, when Daybreak loads a listing or its application questions. Nothing about you is sent.
- The employer you’re applying to, when you choose Autofill. The Daybreak extension puts your contact details, résumé, cover letter, work history, education, skills and answers for that role (including any self-identification you chose) into the employer’s form, straight from your browser rather than through Daybreak. It may tick a box the form requires, like accepting the employer’s privacy notice, but never one that states a fact about you, signs for you or opts you into messages. You check everything and submit it yourself. If the employer’s page confirms your application, the extension keeps the company, role and time in Chrome until Daybreak marks the role as applied. Answers you type into the form yourself are held in Chrome until it closes, so Daybreak can offer to save them; nothing is saved unless you choose to, and self-identification answers are never picked up.
We don’t sell your data, show ads or use third-party analytics. Daybreak never submits an application or sends an email for you.
How long we keep it
- Your account and workspace: until you delete your account. If you don’t sign in to or use Daybreak for 2 years, we delete your account the same way, including any Google access you granted.
- This browser’s copy: until you sign out, along with the last roles Jobs found for you, kept so they show straight away. Signing out also clears what the Daybreak extension holds in Chrome.
- The Daybreak extension: an application waiting to be filled is kept until Chrome closes, for at most an hour. Applications an employer’s page confirmed are kept up to 14 days, until Daybreak picks them up.
- Error reports: 30 days.
- Usage counts: 2 days.
- Backups: our database provider’s recovery history keeps changes, including deletions, for no more than 7 days. We don’t keep other copies.
- Hosting logs: request logs, which include your IP address, for about an hour.
- AI providers: they may keep requests for up to 30 days to detect abuse, then delete them.
Employers keep what you send them under their own policies, and files you export are yours to keep or delete.
Cookies
Daybreak uses one sign-in cookie. It sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
Your choices
- Export: Me → Data & account → Export everything downloads all your data.
- Delete: Me → Data & account → Delete account removes your account, workspace and any Google access you granted, and clears what the Daybreak extension holds in that browser. It happens right away, apart from the recovery history described above.
- Google: you can also remove Daybreak from your Google Account connections.
Children
Daybreak isn’t intended for anyone under 16.
